Women's Service Guild 1st Annual Fall, Fun and Duck Float Race

Our fall festival was a great success thanks to all who spent many hours setting up and running the events and games and of course thanks to those who joined us to participate. During the four hours we had somewhere between 225 and 250 people attend.Once all expenses have been paid we are hoping to clear about $1800.00 This duck race was a 1st and hopefully a beginning of more to come.300 ducks were released in Holly Lake, letting the wind and current take them down the lake to the finish line. Our 1st place winner received a four night stay at a Silverleaf Resort. Four other nice gifts were given by some of our local businesses.

We had something for everyone; 18 Cake Walks; Team Toss which was fun for the young and old (getting 2 of the 5 bean balls into the holes proved to be a challenge for most); Chicken Bowling with a frozen chicken, the falling of wooden pins sounded like a real bowling alley. Lane and wooden pins created by Mike Fleming.

The raffle included a gift certificate from Holly Lake HOA and one from Holly Lake Pro Shop. Gifts and prizes for all events were given by area businesses. The very pleasant fall weather Saturday made our Junk in the Trunk a fun experience for all. We had a total of 13 vehicles with items of every kind to sell.

Food, Food and more Food

We had hot dogs and nachos with all the fixings and fresh popcorn. Hot Dogs and Buns donated by Brookshires-Hawkins. Again thanks to all of you for a great job. We will be back next year. The Holly Lake Area Women's Service Guild is dedicated to raising money for the HLR Fire Department and charity organizations in our community.

Please watch for other fundraisers in the coming year.I also invite all women in the area to our monthly meetings, 1st Thursday of each month.
