"GardenTalk", a regular feature for The Gazette, brings to you the combined experience and expertise of Holly Lake's dedicated gardeners and others. A continuing focus will be subjects of interest to anyone who has ever bought a packet of seeds or dug a hole in the ground for a plant, as well as the dedicated and sharp-eyed observers of nature. "GardenTalk" will not only inform you each issue but solicits your ideas and personal gardening experiences which you may wish to pass on to others. The hope is that "GardenTalk" will enrich us all as well as help make Holly Lake even more beautiful.

Blue Moon Gardens hosts their annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 8.Vote for your favorite scarecrow from their extensive display. Enjoy refreshments and programs about Outdoor Living. All events are free and open to the public with no reservations needed.

Programs during the day include:

10:00 Decorating Your Outdoor Space

- Interior ReDesigner Amy Bott will explain how to apply indoor re-design principles to enhance the function and form of your outdoor space. Learn how to accessorize, converting ordinary outdoors into extraordinary with 'outside the box' ideas and tips.11:15 Outdoor Cooking

- Chef Christian Chavanne demonstrates cooking on the grill and in the fireplace. Sample his delicious culinary creations.1:15 Outdoor Rooms

- Dallas Landscape Designer Johnette Taylor shows ways to make your yard into useable, livable space.2:30 Plants for Outdoor Rooms

- Garden Designer Sharon Lee Smith tells you the best plants to use for windbreaks, privacy, fragrance and color in an outdoor living space, and the ones to avoid.As this Saturday is also the 279 Artisans Trail Art Jam, the featured artists for the day are musicians Joe and Laura Snow. Their musical style ranges from classical to bluesy rock & roll. Accompanying their classic American vocals with everything from acoustic, steel, and electric guitars, to mandolin, harmonica, keyboards and a variety of woodwinds,

there's something to entertain everyone.

With the return of cooler weather the nursery is stocked with fresh plants of vegetables, herbs, perennials and shrubs for planting during fall, the best time of year to garden in Texas. The gift shop is full of holiday decor, candles, soaps, linens, books, scarves, jewelry, hats, handbags and many other gift items.
