Peanuts Goes Live on Stage in Minola

Mike Holbrook

All your favorites from the Peanuts comic strip gather on stage when Lake Country Playhouse in Mineola presents its second production of the 2011 season, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Though the setting is "an average day in the life of Charlie Brown," it is actually little events picked out from all the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine's Day to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening. Even Snoopy's constant battle with the dreaded Red Baron in the skies over France during World War I makes an appearance as a stirring opening to Act II.

The talented cast features Wesley Johnstone as Charlie Brown; Marcy Sauer as Lucy; Will Ross as Snoopy; Balee Caston as Sally; Ben Patrick as Schroeder; and Rodney Mize as Linus.

The musical accompaniment will be done by The M T Pit, a company that specializes in recording the soundtrack exactly as written by the original composer, and played back through the theatre's sound system.

The show is partially underwritten by The Beaty Law Firm and Beaty Funeral Homes.

Performances are April 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. The box office and doors will open one hour prior to curtain. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. A discount rate is available for groups of ten or more. Reservations can be made by calling the box office at 903.569.2300. 2011 Season Tickets are also still available.

Lake Country Playhouse performances are at the Historic Select Theater, 114 N. Johnson Street, in Mineola.
