When Dr. W.E. Sangster, England's great Methodist preacher, lay dying with muscular atrophy, he reminded a friend that all his life he had preached that Jesus was adequate for every crisis. Now that he had only a few days to live, he wanted his friend to know that Christ was indeed adequate in the hour of death. He said to him, "Tell everyone it is true; tell them for me that God is wonderfully near His children when they come to the end of life's road." We can have the same confidence in the Lord that Dr. Sangster had, and that the Apostle Paul had, if we will only believe. Romans 8:35-39 says, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: `For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (New International Version).
