GIRL TALK
-- Imagine a "good for you Pantry" ---
Start the new year by stockpiling these convenient and wholesome
foods to always have on hand. In case of a sleet storm in Jan./Feb.
you will be covered!
Choose :
*Fiber-packed grains such as brown rice, whole wheat pasta, oatmeal,
and cereal . Keep them in airtight containers for up to six months.
*Perfect produce such as potatoes, garlic, onions and winter squash.
Store in a cool dry place to maintain optimum flavor.
* Use heart healthy fats such as canola, olive oil, or nut oils to
saute veggies. Nuts and peanut butter are good sources of
monounsaturated fat.
* Grab some easy flavor by using dried spices and seasonings
which offer zest without extra fat and calories.
* Opt for reduced-sodium broths, soups, and vegetables.
Choose fruits packed in natural juices. Watch out for dented
cans and lids, and follow expiration dates.
* And finally, Snack Smart! Choose nutrient-rich foods that
are filling, such as pop-corn, granola bars, and trail mix.
Get your carbonation fix by replacing sugary sodas with
sparkling water.
