Wood County Commissioners Court

Meeting in regular session Friday, January 7, Wood County Commissioners addressed a routine set of agenda items which included approving the appointment of Teresa K. Sellars as auditor; an interlocal agreement between the City of Hawkins and the Precinct-3 Road & Bridge crew, and a copier contract at the Wood County Tax Office that provides for temporary use of copier/printing equipment.
The County Auditor in Texas is appointed by the presiding Judge serving the State District Court of each county. Judge G. Timothy Boswell of District Court 254 reappointed Teresa K. Sellars as County Auditor for a two year term. That appointment was approved by Commissioners Court.
The agreement between the City of Hawkins and the Precinct-3 Road & Bridge crew sets out the charges for equipment and R&B hourly rates in projects performed in the City of Hawkins. Such agreements are common for cities and school districts within Wood County.
Budget Business Systems of Mineola was contracted to provide copiers and service to the office of the Wood County Tax Collector/Assessor which included equipment to be used on a temporary basis to print tax statements.
After a brief consultation with District Attorney Jim Wheeler, Commissioners voted to return an unsolicited donation to a citizen.
In other action the court approved:
- a two-week County payroll of $308,895.94.
- employee and family health claims of $81,521.04.
- claims and payments totaling $298,538.32.
- newly-pledged securities in the county's account at Bank Texas.
Personnel actions include:
- James Alton Turner, new hire, Service Officer, Juvenile Probation Department, $34,481 annually.
- Patsy Ann Hill, separation, jailer, WCSO, $15.31/hour.
- Sarah Whitney Sheppard, new hire, dispatcher, WCSO, $15.31/hour.
- Bobby H. Mathis, separation, temporary seasonal, Pct.-1 R&B, $9.00/hour.
- Gary Dean Bailey, separation, foreman R&B-4, $17.64/hour.
The next regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners Court will be Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. A special meeting of the court can be called with 72-hour public notice.
