John W. Brawand writes, "Somewhere in South America is an Indian tribe whose concept of the past and future seems to be exactly opposite that of ours. We refer to the past as being behind us, and the future as being ahead of us. To this particular tribe, however, the past is thought of as being ahead of them, and the future as being behind them. At first this may seem very strange to us, and many will undoubtedly wonder how anyone could possible be so foolish as to think in this way. The reasoning of these Indians, however, is quite logical. All that they have experienced - their mistakes, failures, lessons learned, etc. - is considered as being in front of them, and it is there for their contemplation and betterment. The future, on the other hand, is behind them because it has not yet been experienced."Let us be those who trust our pasts, our futures, and our todays to our Lord and Savior, "Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8, New Revised Standard Version). He was with us in our pasts and He will be with us today and in the future, no matter what we have to face. That's good News!
