Hawkins City Council

Meeting in special session Monday, September 13 Hawkins City Council conducted a public hearing to allow citizens comment on their proposal to increase total tax revenues to the city from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 7.09 percent.
The council was prepared to listen, but no one showed up to offer opinions or suggestions to the gathering of city Fathers (and Mothers).
No official business was conducted during the session, but Mayor Sam Bradley did share the news that Allen Memorial Public Library had received a grant of $3,895. The grant comes from the Lone Star Libraries, a program of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
In all 541 libraries statewide shared $6-million in fiscal 2011 grants. Libraries may use these funds in whatever ways they choose to meet their community's needs, according to a news release issued by commission.
The next meeting of the Hawkins City Council is scheduled for Monday, September 20 at 4 p.m. A special meeting of the council can be called with 72 hours public notice
