Hawkins City Council

Meeting in special session Monday, August 30, Hawkins City Council adopted a proposed budget for fiscal 2010-2011 and adopted a tax rate that increases overall tax revenue by 7.09 percent.
In the new budget city employees will receive increases in salaries of three percent and 50-cents per hour for hourly-rate employees.
Council members approved the interlocal agreement with Wood County for fire and emergency services. Hawkins will receive $37,347 in county funds to support local services.
The council voted unanimously to raise the tax rate to 0.5650 cents per hundred valuation. Last year's rate stood at 0.5176 cents. The new rate is an increase of 4.74 cents per hundred, or 9.15 percent.
Council approved the bid of $175,479 by Foshee Equipment for a Scenic Loop wastewater improvement project.
The next meeting of the Hawkins City Council is scheduled for Monday, September 13 at 4 p.m. A special meeting of the council can be called with 72 hours public notice.
