Meeting in regular session Friday, July 23, Wood County Commissioners approved a request from Holly Lake Ranch to remove two abandoned house trailers from properties owned by the county through non-payment of taxes. The court also approved the transfer of property in Quitman to be donated to the City of Quitman and the Quitman Development Corporation.
The property owners association at Holly Lake Ranch has contracted to have the two trailers on county owned property removed along with two other mobile homes on privately owned lots with permission of the property owners. The homes to be removed are are on lots 238, 239 295 and 378. All are located in the remote mobile home HLR Section 3 on CR-3540.
The Quitman property donated by the county to the city is identified as lot 10 of block 75. The city agrees to remove all dilapidated structures and the abatement of any hazardous materials.
In other action the court approved:
- a two-week County payroll of $301,832.14.
- claims and payments totaling $265,316.41.
- employee and family health care claims of $51,868.43.
- concession contract with Franklin and Margaret Werthwein to operate the concession and marina at Lake Quitman.
- release of certain securities from the Wood County Repurchase Account at Bank Texas.
- financial agreement with Sulphur Springs Health & Rehabilitation facility for services provided for county employees and family members.
Personnel actions include:
- Michael W. Allison, discharge, jailer, WCSO. $15.31/hour.
- John Cobbs, discharge, temporary help, Upper Sabine Valley Solid Waste District, $7.50/hour.
- Paul Ray Henderson, new hire, recycle tech, USVSWD, $8.50/hour.
- Karen Metzel, new hire, temporary, Election Administration, $9.00/hour.
- Stephen P. Till, resignation, laborer, Pct.3 R&B, $9.00/hour.
- Christopher Michael Turner, new hire, deputy sheriff, WCSO, $17.64/hour.
The next regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners Court will be Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. A special meeting of the court can be called with 72-hour public notice.
