Meeting in regular session Thursday, April 1 at Mineola City Hall, the board of the Wood County Industrial Commission (WCIC) approved funding for an advertisement in the Lake Fork Area Chamber of Commerce (LFACofC) Guide and established a committee to provide a recommendation regarding advertising on an East Texas Reflections web site.
The advertisement in the LFACofC guide will be a one-page layout at a cost of $1,200. The WCIC has been a continuing advertiser in the guide. A committee of five will consider the advertising opportunity represented by the East Texas Reflections' web site. Rodney Duplechain, Holly Lake, is among the committee members. The committee will present its recommendation at a later meeting.
The board members approved a letter of support from the WCIC for the East Texas Council of Government's broadband grant application.
Hawkins Mayor Sam Bradley reported on progress to develop a Recreational Vehicle Park for Exxon oilfield workers and their families on property east of Brookshires off of FM-1795 and Scenic Loop, the opening of a new tire and lube shop, and the pending opening of two new restaurants in the city.
The May meeting of the Wood County Industrial Commission will be held on Thursday, May 6 at a location in the Hawkins-Holly Lake area.
