An apparent double homicide and suicide took place in the Holiday Village subdivision on November 28th.
At approximately 12:39 a.m. the Wood County Sheriff's Department received a report in a 911 call about shots being fired. Deputies along with DPS troopers went to a residence at 525 Comanche Drive and found a scene that appeared to be a double homicide/suicide. There were nine people in total at the residence. Three were dead including the suspect/shooter.
According to statement, Baron Vance BiBee, 51, of Quitman, entered the home through an unlocked kitchen door. BiBee's estranged wife, Valerie BiBee, 47, of Quitman, was asleep on the living room floor and heard BiBee enter the residence.
After a confrontation with BiBee, Valerie made the 911 call. Baron BiBee then fired shots at her and she pretended to be dead. BiBee then shot and killed the second victim, Jimmie Ira Burgan, 66, of Claude, Texas. Baron BiBee then came in contact with Valerie BiBee's mother, Marilyn Jeanne Purley, 70, of San Jacinto, California. He shot and killed her.
BiBee then took his own life with the same .357 magnum handgun.
