The Wood County Sheriff's department has announced the recovery of about $1 million in stolen oil field equipment.
The thefts took place over the past two-and-a-half years and stretched across five counties - Wood County plus McMullen, Nolan, Reagan and Runnels counties. Sgt. Kevin Fretwell of the Criminal Investigations unit said about $240,000 out of the total was equipment stolen from field in Wood County. One person has been arrested with regard to the thefts. He was an employee of an oil company who worked at various sites and became familiar with the inventory. A warrant has also been issued for a second person who may have been at the receiving end. Some of the recovered equipment from Wood County included two pump jacks, two blast-off preventers, and a trailer.
The sheriff's department worked with the Texas Rangers on the resolution of this case.

Marijuana operation found east of Mineola
The sheriff's department is also reporting that a police helicopter assisted officers in the discovery of a marijuana operation just east of Mineola. The officers also seized six rifles, bags of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia and a semi-automatic pistol.
Sgt. Fretwell said the helicopter was also issued to create aerial photos in the investigation of the murder of Brittany McGlone of Winnsboro. The murder took place in May 2007 and remains unsolved.
