Light agenda: capital credits sought from Electric Co-Ops

Meeting in regular session Friday, July 24, Wood County Commissioners Court passed a resolution requesting unclaimed capital credits from electrical cooperatives serving the county and approved a budget transfer of $2,000 for Justice of the Peace Precinct-3.
Commissioners approved the submission of a request for unclaimed capital credits from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. The county is served by two electric cooperatives-Wood County Electric and Upshur County Electric and by law has a claim to the unclaimed credits. The filing must be made each year by July 31.
The court also approved several budget transfers including the transfer of $2,000 in the accounts of Justice of the Peace Precinct-3. The transfer moves funds from the technology account to the training/travel account to fund continuing education costs for JP Clarence Holmes.
In other action the court approved:
- a two-week County payroll of $264,463.35
- claims totaling $348,445.48.
- employee and family health care claims of $77,834.40.
- lease/service agreement with Xerox for copier with 4-year contract at $166.91 per month for Wood County Judge's office.
- appointment of Linda Leonard, Quitman to the Wood County Child Protection Board.
- release and pledge securities held at Bank Texas.
- rescinding of previously approved expenses of paupers burial.
Personnel actions include:
- Timothy E. Baucom, resignation, Patrol Sergeant, WCSO.
- Matthew S. Gann, new hire, deputy sheriff, WCSO, $16.96/hour.
- Mark Allen Smith, resignation, deputy sheriff, WCSO.
- Darlene Yosten, resignation, assistant auditor, WC Auditors office.
The next regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners Court will be Friday, August 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. A special meeting of the court can be called with 72-hour public notice.
