Sheriff's Report

March 18th: Wood County deputies along with deputies from Kaufman County arrested Emmett Leon Lambert, a white male age 48, at a Kaufman County residence. He was wanted on five warrants - one for the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, two for possession of a controlled substance, and two for bail jumping and failure to appear. Bond was set at over $1,000,000.
On this same date, deputies were dispatched on a report of a burglary on FM 1799. The complainant advised that several bottles of prescription medications had been removed from the home. The complainant advised that the suspect(s) had gained entry to the residence by damaging the back door. The case is under investigation.
March 17th: Deputies were dispatched to PR 7402 with regard to a stolen four-wheeler. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to PR 6605 with regard to a report of harassment. The complainant advised that her daughter was receiving vulgar phone calls and text messages from an unknown suspect. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched on a report of a missing person on CR 3995. The complainant advised that the victim had not been seen or heard from since early in the morning of March 16th. The case is under investigation.
March 16th: Deputies were sent to CR 2245 with regard to a disturbance. On arrival, the complainant advised that his father had gotten upset with his girlfriend. The suspect had left the residence. Once deputies had contacted the suspect, he then returned to the residence on a public street. Deputies noticed as the suspect came toward the house he was unsure of his steps. While speaking to the suspect, deputies noted that he appeared confused, angry and was slurring his words. Timmy Gonzales was place under arrest for public intoxication.
On the same date, deputies were requested to assist the Sulphur Springs Police department with an arrest. On arresting the suspect on Hwy 182, methamphetamine was located in his vehicle. Brent Scott Heflin was arrested on a Hopkins County warrant for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and an on-site charge of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. He is being held in a Wood County Jail without bond.
March 14th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2696 with regard to a runaway out of Louisiana. An investigator from Caddo Parrish requested that a check be done on a residence regarding a runaway from Caddo Parrish. When the check of the residence was done, a male juvenile advised that the runaway was not at the residence. Later that evening, the homeowner advised that she found the juvenile from Caddo in the residence and she requested that deputies return to her house. Both juveniles were transported to a juvenile detention facility.
March 13th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2378 with regard to a burglary. Unknown suspect(s) had entered the complainant's residence and removed a television. The case is under investigation.
March 12th: Deputies were dispatched to PR 7844 with regard to an assault/family violence. The complainant advised that she was assaulted by her husband because she wanted a divorce. The complainant advised that the suspect had choked her and threatened to end her life. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to south Main Street in Yantis with regard to a burglary of a motor vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had broken into her vehicle. The case is under investigation.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to CR 1416 with regard to a theft report. The complainant advised that two unknown males came onto her property and removed two buckets of copper. This is under investigation. While speaking with the complainant, deputies were advised that the complainant, Candace Caylin Smith, was wanted out of Burnett County for motion to revoke probation, out of Rains County for theft and out of Wood County for theft. Smith was arrested without incident.

During the period, the Wood County Jail held 83 males and eight females for a total of 91. The bookings numbered 33 and there were 29 releases.
March 11th: Deputies arrested Misti Michelle Hasten, 34, at Enchanted Lakes on a warrant for motion to revoke probation.
March 10th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2174 with regard to a criminal trespass report. The complainant advised that he had evicted a man from the property who was continuing to come onto the property. A criminal trespass was issued to the man to stay off the property.
March 9th: Deputies met with a resident in the lobby of the sheriff's department with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone had entered his home on CR 3984 and taken several firearms and ammunition. There is a suspect and the investigation is continuing.
March 8th: Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 69 to assist the Alba Police department with a possibly intoxicated person. The odor of alcohol was detected on a woman and she was unstable on her feet. She was unable to complete the field sobriety test. It was believed she would be a danger to herself and others if she was allowed to get back in her vehicle and drive. Nikki Roechelle Eddy, 37, of Fort Worth, was arrested for public intoxication.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 2297 on a report of an assault. A woman said her son assaulted her. She stated she was physically assaulted and things in the home were damaged. Toryee David Wimberly, 17, was arrested for assault/family violence.
March 7th: Deputies were dispatched to Sun Eagle Bay on CR 1977 at Lake Fork with regard to a suspect taking items that belonged to her mother. The suspect was stopped in a vehicle in Smith County and told to return to Wood County. She was told to bring the items with her because they had been reported stolen and she needed to speak to the sheriff's department about a theft. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to Hwy 37 south on a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the wrong side of the road. As they approached the person in the vehicle, it is reported that he appeared to be sweating profusely and was unable to maintain his balance. Bustos Pablo Roman, 25, of Mineola, was arrested for public intoxication.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to the Mustang Resort where a boat motor was reported stolen. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, Deputies assisted a Wood County game warden with a detained suspect. Deputies were advised of an assault that had just occurred and that here were several witnesses. The victim said the suspect grabbed her shirts while she was running away from him. Jose Hemilo Banda, 40, of Quitman, was arrested for assault by contact/family violence.
Finally on this date, Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 154 west with regard to a criminal mischief complaint. The complainant advised that someone had cut wires from a pickup truck that he was selling. This offense is under investigation.
March 6th: Deputies were dispatched to PR 7402 with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone had entered the residence and removed several household items. The case is under investigation.
March 5th: Deputies spoke with a complainant on CR 1670 with regard to animal cruelty. The complainant advised that the remains of several dogs were located on the property. The complainant, along with deputies, located a barn with stalls that could have been used to house dogs. Deputies located two circular fences for possible dog fighting. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, the sheriff's department responded to a request from the Quitman Police department on a report of a stolen vehicle at Dollar General. On arrival, deputies saw a Quitman police officer removing a white male passenger from the vehicle. Another white male was in the driver's seat and upon being approached, he exited the vehicle and began running from officers. Deputies located the suspect on Leath Street and placed him in custody for evading arrest. The juvenile suspect was taken to the Van Zandt County Juvenile detention Center.
Also on this date, deputies were dispatched to CR 2958 with regard to a burglary. The house is unoccupied and used for storage. The owner said several items had been removed from the home. The case is under investigation.
