Locale Congregation, Summit Heights

E-mail Print PDF

On November 24, a local congregation, Summit Heights Fellowship, purchased the building formally housing the local True Value Hardware store, on Hwy 2869, which will become their new home in early 2009.

At the beginning of April 2004, God brought together five families and a ministry staff at a home in Holly Lake Ranch for the purpose of planting a strong, culturally relevant church that would minister to the surrounding area with the love and message of Jesus Christ. Today, just four years later, at any given time, some 200-250 people call Summit Heights their church home. Since the inception of Summit Heights, more than 150 people have professed Jesus as Lord and been baptized. Nearly 125 have taken, completed, and signed a covenant for membership.

After three years of meeting, the congregation outgrew the Holly Lake Ranch facilities and moved to Hawkins ISD January 2008 and continues to meet there weekly. Renovation on the new building will begin in December and the first worship service will be in February 2009.

Summit Heights maintains a small group ministry called 242 Community Groups (after Acts 2:42), consisting of people that meet weekly in homes for Bible study and prayer. Summit Height¢s Student Ministry meets in the Hawkins Community Center, with more than 70 6th to 12th grade students on any given night, the group averages more than 50 students weekly! Kid Venture, our children¢s ministry has continued to equip young people with the Word of God through a comprehensive program every Sunday morning. Women¢s Ministry, Men¢s Samson Society Ministry, College, Singles Groups, and many others meet regularly for fellowship and ministry.
