Wood County Sheriff Report

 October 16th: Cpl. David Barkley while on routine patrol observed a vehicle with defective tail lights near Hwy 14 north of Hawkins. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Daniel Reznikoff, 55, of Hawkins. The vehicle had an expired registration and Rezniikoff did not have a valid driver's license. Reznikoff also had in his possession a crack/cocaine smoking device. He was charged wuth having no driver's license and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, under one gram. Reznikoff was taken to the Wood County Jail.


October 15th: Deputy Jayson Farmer was dispatched to 1483 CR 3875 on a report of a burglary. The suspect(s) entered a residence and stole beer, whiskey, a DVD player and an electric guitar. The items taken are valued at about $150. There are possible suspect(s) and the investigation is continuing.

On the same date, Sgt. Timothy Baucom observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit of 55 mph while he was on patrol on FM 2088. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Lvendric Marque Fite, 33, of Longview. Fite had a suspended driver's license. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Wood County Jail.

Also on this date, Sgt. Baucom took a criminal mischief report from a construction site at PR 5552. Some unknown person(s) had burned a stack of 2x6x20 lumber. The lumber is valued at approximately $800. There are possible suspect(s) and the investigation is continuing.

October 14th: Deputy Mike Taylor took a theft report involving a Dallas Morning News stand which was located on FM 515 and CR 4805. The stand is estimated at $500. The investigation is continuing.

October 13th: While on routine patrol, Cpl. Strawn observed an SUV traveling in the area of FM 2659 and FM 29ll driving on the shoulder and across the center line. The driver was identified as DeeAnna Askew, 43, of Gilmer. Askew performed several sobriety tests and failed. Askew was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to the Wood County Jail.

October 12th: While on patrol, Cpl. David Barkley observed a suspicious vehicle at the roadside park in Hwy 80 near Mineola. The driver was identified as John Hill, 54, of Alba. Hill appeared to be under the influence and thought he was in Terrell. He was found to be in possession of a controlled substance - Xanax. Hill was taken to the Wood County Jail.

October 11th: Sgt. Jimmy Coleman was dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 37 and Hwy 154 on a report of an ambulance having problems transporting a subject. The subject was identified as Cory Pearman, 17, of Mineola. The ambulance personnel stated that the subject was combative and was very intoxicated. Pearman was cursing and took a swing at the deputy. Pearman was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Wood County Jail.

During the period there were 89 males and 10 females at the Wood County Jail. Bookings numbered 36 and there were 29 releases.

October 9th: Cpl. Brad Strawn responded to a burglary report at 245 CR 2425. Some unknown person(s) stole a computer system that was still in the box. There are possible suspect(s) and the investigation is continuing.

October 7th: Sgt. Jimmy Coleman was dispatched for a welfare concern on Hwy 154 and FM 182 where a subject was passed out in his vehicle and partially blocking the roadway. The subject was identified as John Christopher Parker, 40, of Quitman. Parker woke up and exited his vehicle. He was apparently intoxicated. He stated he thought he was at home. Parker was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Wood County Jail.

October 5th: Cpl. Strawn stopped a vehicle for a moving violation on Hwy 154. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jason Michael Long, 21, of Sulphur Springs. Long had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Dustin Cody McCord, 23, of Sulphur Springs and appeared to have been drinking an alcoholic beverage. Long was arrested for driving while intoxicated, 2nd offense, and McCord was arrested for public intoxication. Both were taken to the Wood County Jail.

October 4th: Deputy Mark Smith was dispatched to 190 CR 3876 with regard to a burglary. Some unknown person(s) had tampered with a front door and window and taken several items. Some of the items stolen included a Miller welder, tools, and a CB radio. There are possible suspect(s) and the investigation is continuing.

On the same date, Deputy Mike Taylor was dispatched to 526 PR 8692 with regard to a burglary. Some unknown person(s) had pried open a shed door and stolen power tools. The investigation is continuing.

Also on this date, Deputy Taylor initiated a traffic stop involving a vehicle with a defective brake light. The driver was identified as Joe Ballard, 34, of Winnsboro. Ballard had a suspended driver's license. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license and taken to the Wood county Jail.

Finally on this date, Cpl. Strawn observed a vehicle traveling on FM 14 near FM 2869 and driving recklessly at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was finally stopped. The driver was identified as Alfred Warren Potter, 48, of Winnsboro. Potter appeared to have been drinking. He was arrested for reckless driving and taken to the Wood County Jail.

October 3rd: Deputy Taylor initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to signal a turn on Walnut Street and Carnegie in Winnsboro. The driver was identified as William Allen Henson, 47, of Winnsboro. Henson had an expired driver's license and a fictitious registration on his vehicle. Henson was arrested for displaying a fictitious registration and taken to the Wood County Jail.

On the same date, Cpl. David Barkley stopped a vehicle for having no license plate light on Hwy 14 north. The driver was identified as Randy Uriah Randell, 19, of Big Sandy. The deputy noticed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Randell was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Wood County Jail.
