Audit is "Unqualified;"
Budget amendments OK'd
By JOHN SPARKS

Meeting in regular session, Monday, October 20, the Hawkins City Council accepted a audit report described as clean by the independent auditor and approved budget amendments and approved proceeding with repairs to the two buildings occupied by the Hawkins Police Department.

Neil Conway of Conway & Co. walked council members through the audit document after advising them that the firm's audit letter was clean or unqualified for fiscal 2007.

The council also approved an agreement with Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott for collection of fines for the Hawkins Municipal Court.

Velma Parker asked council for consideration of repairs to pothjoles in her driveway, which for several years had been used by garbage trucks as an alley way. The council will have the maintenance department look at the damages before determining a course of action.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Hawkins City Council is scheduled for Monday, November 17 at 6 p.m. A special meeting of the council can be called with 72 hours public notice.
