Wood County Sheriff Report

 Oct. 1st: Deputy Jason Farmer was dispatched to 200 CR 4596 on a theft report. Some unknown person(s) had stolen the ramps off a trailer. The ramps are valued at about $150.

Sept. 30th: Deputy Mike Taylor was dispatched to 103 CR 2918 with regard to a theft. Some unknown person(s) had stolen a rod and reel which had been lying on a pier. The investigation is continuing.

Sept. 29th: Deputy James Carter took a burglary report from 5435 south FM 2869. Some unknown person(s) had taken several items including an air compressor, a weed eater and a leaf blower.

Sept. 28th: Deputy Jayson Farmer took a theft report from 577 CR 1681. Some unknown person(s) took a white plastic minnow bucket from a pier. The investigation is continuing.

Sept. 27th: Deputy Farmer also took a theft report from CR 2100. Some unknown person(s) had stolen a deer feeder and an electric timer from the property. There was crime scene evidence left at the scene and the investigation is continuing.

Sept. 26th: Deputy Clint Norman was dispatched to 768 CR 1350 with regard to a burglary. Some unknown person(s) had entered a barn and stolen a Honda 150 dirt bike and a Winchester 12 gauge firearm and two saddles. The investigation is continuing.

During the period, there were 79 males and 8 females at the Wood County Jail. The bookings numbered 40 and there were 36 releases.

Sept 25th: Deputy Mark Smith initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 69 north for speeding. The driver was identified as Donald McKethan, 56, of Alba. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as David Edward Bennett, 50, of Alba. McKethan was driving with an expired drivers license. Bennett had a homemade cane. After further inspection of the cane, it was revealed that a sword was inside a hollowed-out section. McKethan was charged with driving while his license was invalid. Bennett was charged with carrying a prohibited weapon. Both were taken to the Wood County Jail.

Sept. 24th: Cpl. Brad Strawn was dispatched to 267 CR 2715 with regard to a theft of copper wiring. Some unknown person(s) had stolen copper wiring from a trailer. The copper wiring is valued at $800.

Sept. 22nd: Deputy Aaron Warren took a report of a theft that happened at Lake Hawkins. Some unknown person(s) stole a purse that had been on a table at the pavilion. The investigation is continuing.

Sept. 21st: Sgt. Mark Miller responded to the lobby at the Wood County Sheriff¢s Department to meet with Alex Richardson, 37, of Winnsboro for some type of report. Sgt. Miller observed and detected behavior consistent with the use of methamphetamine. Richardson stated that people were after him and believed they were in the lobby with him. Richardson tried to gain access to the secure area of the sheriff¢s department and got a table to shield himself. At this time, Sgt. Miller arrested Richardson for public intoxication. Richardson then was escorted the short distance to jail.

Sept. 20th: Cpl. Brad Strawn responded to the Winnsboro Lake boat ramp on CR 4890 on a report of a burglary of a vehicle. Some unknown person(s) had stolen a purse from inside a vehicle. The perpetrator(s) damaged a window to gain entry. The investigation is continuing. On the same date, Cpl. Strawn responded to the East Texas Medical Center on Hwy 37 in Mineola on a report of another vehicle burglary. Some unknown person(s) had entered a vehicle by breaking a window. The perpetrator(s) stole a wallet that was inside the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.

Sept. 19th: Deputy Richard Parrish responded to 675 CR 2774 on a report of a burglary. Some unknown person(s) had entered a residence through a side door and had stolen several items including a lawn mower. The investigation is continuing.
