Wood County Sheriff Report

Sept 4th: Deputy Jason Farmer was dispatched to 279 Palo Duro Pass at Holly Lake Ranch on a report of a burglary of a vehicle. Some unknown person(s) stole an undetermined amount of cash from inside a pickup. The investigation has been forwarded to the CID.

On the same date, Deputy Greg Couch responded to 254 CR 4591 in Winnsboro with regard to a burglary. Some unknown person(s) entered a residence and stole a laptop computer. There are possible suspect(s) and the investigation is continuing.

Also on this date, Sgt. Michael Johnson took a report with regard to the burglary of a vehicle which occurred at the Mustang Resort on Lake Fork. Some unknown person(s) entered a vehicle and stole a checkbook. The investigation is continuing.

Sept. 3rd: Deputy Timothy Baucom responded to a disturbance in progress at 785 CR 4586 in Winnsboro. The subject causing the disturbance was Brian Lipina, 22, of Winnsboro. Lipina was intoxicated and had an altercation with his family. Lipina was arrested for assault by contact, family violence and taken to the Wood County Jail.

Sept 1st: Cpl. Brad Strawn and Sgt. Michael Wood responded to 606 CR 3811 in Hawkins for an assault in progress. Cody McDonald, 19, of Hawkins, was found to have threatened to attack his common law wife with a baseball bat. A friend came to the rescue of the wife and struggled with McDonald for the bat. Deputies arrived at the scene and ordered McDonald at gunpoint to drop the bat. McDonald complied. McDonald was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against the wife and their infant son, plus one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against the friend who came to the rescue. McDonald's infant son was in the arms of his wife when he was threatening her. McDonald was taken to the Wood County Jail.

August 31st: Deputy Jayson Farmer took a burglary report from 1332 CR 4596. Some unknown person(s) entered the residence and stole several items, including a TV, a computer and an unknown amount of cash. The investigation has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division.
On the same date, Deputy Farmer was dispatched to the 800 block of CR 3155 on a report of a male passed out in the middle of the road. The male was in his vehicle. He was identified as Erin Patrick Corrior, 32, of Quitman. Corrior had a syringe in his vehicle and drug paraphernalia. Corrior was arrested and taken to the Wood County Jail.

August 30th: Deputy Greg Couch was dispatched to 1518 Hwy 37 north on a report of reckless damage. Some unknown person(s) hit a fence causing damage while returning a U-haul. They left the U-haul and fled the scene. The investigation is continuing.

On the same date, Deputy Richard Parrish responded to 1747 CR 1785 on a report of a disturbance. Anthony Finley, 37, of Yantis, was found to be the principal in the disturbance. Finley was arrested for assault/family violence causing bodily injury and was taken to the Wood County Jail.

Also on this date, Deputy Farmer responded to 1618 CR 8692 with regard to some stolen property. Some unknown person(s) had taken a paddle boat. The investigation is ongoing.

During the period, there were 78 males in the Wood County Jail and 13 females. Bookings numbered 32 and there were 38 releases.

Radio primary calls in and out numbered 2,344. The 911 calls totaled 408. Phone calls in and out numbered 1,949, for an overall total of 4,701 calls this period.

August 28th: Sgt. David Barkley was traveling east on Hwy 80 approaching FM 2869. He observed two vehicles traveling at about 75 miles an hour. The first vehicle slowed and the second swerved to avoid the first vehicle. Barkley stopped the second vehicle. The driver was identified as John Blair, 59, of Tyler. Blair appeared to be intoxicated and failed several sobriety tests. Blair was taken to the Wood County Sheriff's Department and charged with driving while intoxicated - first offense.

August 27th: Sgt. Mark Miller took a theft report from CR 4460. Some unknown person(s) took two nail guns from a job site. There are possible suspects(s) and the investigation is continuing.

August 25th: Sgt. Jimmy Coleman was dispatched to 145 Cedar Cove at Holly Lake Ranch with regard to a disturbance. On arrival at the residence, Coleman saw that Holly Lake security officers had Jesse Henry, 28, of Holly Lake Ranch, restrained. Henry had assaulted one of the security officers. He was screaming, cursing and was highly intoxicated. The security officers had responded to the home regarding a disturbance and found Henry had a knife. Henry threw the knife down and hit one of the officers in the chest several time with his fist. The security officer received minor injuries. Henry was taken to the Wood County Jail where he had to be taken forcibly into the jail.

On the same date, Sgt. Jimmy Coleman was dispatched to 768 CR 1350 with regard to the theft of a trailer. The trailer is blue in color, 24 feet long with red wheels and a wood floor. It is valued at $1,400. The case has been forwarded to the CID.

August 24th: Deputy Brad Strawn initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for having a broken tail lamp on Hwy 69 south of Mineola city limits. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Billy Joe Raibon, 38, of Ben Wheeler. The deputy observed an open container in the vehicle. Raibon also had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Raibon did not possess a valid driver's license nor did he have insurance on the vehicle. He was arrested for having no driver's license, no insurance and driving a motor vehicle with an open container. Raibon was taken to the Wood County jail.

August 23rd: Deputy Mike Taylor was dispatched to 382 CR 1550 with regard to a disturbance. On arrival, the deputy found that George Canton Meade, 48, of Alba, was intoxicated and was threatening the complainant. Meade was taken to the Wood County Jail and charged with assault by threat.

On the same date, Deputy Guy Powell was dispatched to an assault call that occurred on CR 4815. The victim and common-law-husband Alvin Milliken, 31, of Winnsboro, assaulted the victim while driving down the road. The victim had minor injuries. Milliken was arrested for assault/bodily injury/family violence.

August 22nd: Deputies Richard Parrish, Mike Taylor and Mark Smith answered a missing person report at 763 CR 4627. The caller stated that a person had suffered from an insect sting and run into the woods. There were several conflicting stories on the scene indicating possible foul play. Deputies received consent to the residence to further investigate. They found that Neal Curtis Brown was acting strangely. Brown had methamphetamine in his bedroom. Brown was arrested for possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine - under one gram. The missing person came back the next day.
