 July 24th: Deputy David Barkley was dispatched to Reel Bar & Grill in Yantis located at 3607 Hwy 154 west. On arrival, witnesses stated that there had been an altercation between two males and a female identified as Stephanie Smith, 22, of Emory. The two males had fled the scene. Smith was intoxicated and was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Wood County Jail.

 

July 22nd: Sgt. Mark Miller was dispatched to the emergency room at the Winnsboro Presbyterian Hospital with regard to an assault. The complainant Paul Henderson stopped at 3055 FM 515 west near the Pleasant Grove store to drop the Dallas Morning News papers. He was assaulted by four unknown suspects. The case is under investigation.

On the same date, Deputy Mike Taylor stopped a vehicle for driving left of center. The traffic stop occurred near CR 1600 and CR 1602. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Benton Jeffrey Jones, 42, of Alba. Jones did not have a valid driver's license. Jones was taken to the Wood County Jail and charged with driving while license revoked.

 

July 21st: Sgt. Mark Miller was contacted by Tony Brown, a representative of Wood County Electric. Brown advised that unknown suspect(s) had backed into the meter boxes at the Mustang Resort on CR 1550. The case is under investigation.

On the same date, Deputy Mark Smith was dispatched to 4669 FM 1254 to meet with James Carter with regard to suspect(s) setting Carter's newspaper box on fire. The case is under investigation.

 

July 20th: Deputy Tim Baucom was dispatched to 6915 FM 515 with regard to a theft of copper. The deputy met with the complainant, James Roberts, a representative of Wood County Electric. Roberts advised that unknown suspect(s) removed 600 feet of copper. The case is under investigation.

 

July 19th: Sgt. Michael Johnson was dispatched to 2387 FM 1799 and met with the complainant, Pamela Freeman, with regard to a criminal trespass incident. Freeman advised that her neighbor, Jennifer Gonzalez, was at her residence and refused to leave. Gonzalez was issued a criminal trespass and the case is closed.

On the same date, Deputy Gregory Couch was dispatched to 621 CR 1545 with regard to an assault by threat. The complainant, William Freddie Sienbenthaler advised that Chris Powell had threatened bodily harm. The case is under investigation.

 

July 18th: Sgt. Terry Bevill, Sgt. Randall Lain Sr., and Capt. Kelly Cole arrested Jeffrey D. Pittman at his home on Hwy. 154 for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. A search warrant was executed after information was received that Pittman was in possession of illegal narcotics and stolen property from Wood and Hopkins counties. Pittman also has charges pending in Hopkins County for possession of stolen property. Several stolen firearms were recovered as a result.

 

On the same date, Deputy Barkley was dispatched to CR 2263 with regard to a disturbance. On arrival, the deputy was flagged down by Charles McFadden and Michael Manley. McFadden and Manley advised that they were assaulted by two unknown suspects. The case is under investigation.

 

July 17th: A deputy was dispatched to CR 4750 on a fully involved structure fire. A passerby spotted the fire and called 911. The home is owned by Alvin and Helen Miller who were home at the time of the fire. The fire is under investigation.

 

Also on this date, a deputy was dispatched to FM 2225 to meet with Tony Brown of Wood County Electric with regard to copper thefts. He advised that a three-phase feeder for an oil well had been stolen. The case is under investigation.

 

Sgt. Michael Wood was dispatched to 3082 CR 3600 with regard to a dog problem. The complainant, Cody McBride, advised that several pit bulls were running loose in his neighborhood. McBride also advised that his dog was attacked. The case is under investigation.

 

Summary of calls this period: Agency assist, 5; animal calls, 8; alarms, 13; assaults, 10; disturbances, 6; traffic stops, 7. Totals calls this period - 166.

 

During the period, there were 84 males and 10 females at the Wood County Jail over a total of 94.

 

There were 38 bookings and 33 releases.

 

During the period, radio primary calls in and out numbered 2,238. The 911 calls totaled 356. Phone calls in and out numbered 2,218 for an overall total of 4,812.

 

July 16th: A deputy was dispatched to Tree Town USA on Hwy 154 east with regard to a theft. The complainant said that someone had entered the property and removed 166 plastic tree growing containers. The case is under investigation.

 

July 15th: Deputy Misty Burns was patrolling Hwy 69 north of FM 779. She stopped a Ford Bronco for expired registration and inspection stickers. Kelly Albert Forrester, 45, of Grand Saline, was placed under arrest for driving with a invalid license, expired registration and expired inspection.

 

July 14th: A deputy was dispatched to a location on Hwy 154 on a criminal trespass complaint. The complainant advised that someone had cut the locks off three of his buildings. The case is under investigation.

 

July 13th: Sgt. Michael Wood was dispatched to CR 2805 with regard to an assault. He arrested Gregory Geremonte, 29, of Mineola on a charge of assault. William Mayo was the victim.
