Kevin W. White named Hawkins H.S. principal

 Kevin W. White has been named principal of Hawkins High School for 2008-2009. White had served as principal at Yantis High School the past three years. He is a graduate of East Texas with a B.S. Science degree and of Texas A&M Commerce with a Master of Science Degree in 1984.

White, who resides in Mineola, lists among his accomplishments at Yantis: five Gold Performance Acknowledgements, increased ACT scores, seventy-seven percent of juniors are THAE exempt due to TAKS scores, implementation of programs that have increased TAKS scores in Science that included 100 percent of juniors passing EXIT TAKS Test, and increased the number of students taking dual-credit college courses.
Prior to serving Yantis White served the Van Zandt/Rains DAEP Commission for three years and was an assistant principal at Quinlan Ford High School where he also served as a teachert and coach. He served as athletic director and head football coach at Alba-Golden from 1992 through 1998. Prior to he taught and coached in Quinlan and Aransas Pass and Mineola.

White hoolds professional certifications in PDAS and ILD Social Studies Composite, History, Life and Earth Science and Physical Education. He is also certified as principal and superintendent.

He signed a two-year contract with Hawkins with a starting salary of $70,000.
