Mission Lutheran Church on a Budget

E-mail Print PDF

Trinity Lutheran Church in Tyler will soon celebrate its 75th anniversary and it has opened this "Mission" in the Hawkins and Holly Lake Area without a local Pastor. Instead it is using a technology called video venueing and a hardy band of local Lutherans to bring Christ's message into our area. The technology involves using existing staff on the Tyler Campus combined with local members to project Christ into this area. Since the "big Church" in Tyler uses the pastors on Sunday morning, only an evening service can be offered. However, this works great for many locals who enjoy the relaxed Sunday evening Bible Study and worship settings. The 8:30 Sunday morning service in Tyler is recorded on a DVD and taken to the Hawkins Holly Lake mission by a member. It becomes the sermon only, when at the proper time, the lights are dimmed and the sermon from that morning is delivered to the locals. The rest of the service is conducted by local members. Two evenings each month we have a "live" Pastor with Holy Communion. Trinity Lutheran is a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, but welcomes Lutherans with backgrounds in other Synods. Bible Study begins at 5:30 and Worship at 6:30. Why not join us? W.C.
