Court raises County Spouse Life Benefit to $20,000,Child $5,000

 Meeting Friday, October 5th in regular session, Wood County Commissioners approved a recommendation to raise County Employees Spousal Life Insurance Death Benefit to $20,000 and raised a Dependent Child's to $5,000. It was pointed out that both were voluntary on the part of the Employee.

Other actions included approving a monthly payroll of $241,793.09 and Claims Payment (bills) of 467,504.83. The 2 Year Terms of WCIC Directors Shane Shepard and Imogene Davis were extended for another 2 years at the recommendation of the City of Winnsboro.

A Public Hearing to discuss the renewal of the Wood County Reinvestment Zone was held when Gary McKinley was called on. He pointed out that this must be done every 5 Years, and it was renewed.

A Public Hearing was called for November 2, 2007 to close County Road 3561 since the adjoining land owner had requested it. Roger Pace pointed out that the Hearing costs would be bourn by that property owner.

Bank Texas was permitted to replace $500,000 worth of securities with some of same value as pledged securities.

A Proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month was read and approved and reader is advised of the photo appearing on front of

B Section of this paper showing those present for this important event.

The opening date of Proposals for Inmate Medical Services was moved to November 6, 2007.

A Proclamation for the opening of the Governor Hogg Park Arboretum and Boanical Garden was approved.

An approval of Contracts with Maddox A/C Company and Martin Cabinet Mfg was passed. Both were part of the yearly budget already passed.

The Wood County Health Department Contracts were approved.

The Interlocal Agreement with the Andrews Center for Fiscal Year 2008 was approved.

The appointment of Candidates to the Wood County Appraisal District Board was tabled.

A motion to adjourn was passed.

The next regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners Court will be Friday, October 19 at 10 a.m. A special meeting of the court can be called with 72-hour public notice.
