Superintendent search enters
interview stage. Schedule OK'd
By JOHN SPARKS

At the regular monthly meeting of the Harmony Independent School District's Board of Trustees held Monday, February 19, trustees reviewed and finalized applicant interview procedures and schedule for their hiring of a replacement for Superintendent Ray Miller, who announced his pending retirement earlier this school year. The board also approved extensions on contracts for the district's three principals.

Superintendent Miller reviewed the district's enrollment and attendance figures and outlined the TAKS test schedule.

The board discussed the need to replace and move the bleachers on the visitors' side of the football stadium. Superintendent Miller reported that new bleachers seating 750 would cost between $85,000 and $100,000. Additional costs will be incurred in removing the old concrete base and pouring a new one. Should the board decide to replace the bleachers prior to next fall, the funds would come from the fund balance.

The board and Miller also discussed the need for an assistant band director, but no staffing decision was made.

At the suggestion of Gary Littlejohn, the district will seek proposals of service for a new audit firm. Littlejohn pointed out the current firm had served the district for nine years. Bids will also be sought for the bank depository contract. These bids will be analyzed by Southwest. Austin Bank has held the contract for six years.

The next regular meeting of the Harmony ISD trustees is scheduled for Monday, March 26 at 7 p.m. A special meeting of the board can be called with 72-hours notice.
