Last two Weeks in June 2009

Wood County citizens are needed to assist the sheriff's department with the growing number of burglaries and thefts in the county.
The department strives to patrol all areas of the county, but it has limited resources. The sheriff's department requests that you report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
You know which vehicles belong in your area and what is normal in your neighborhood. Don't hesitate to call the sheriff's office if you notice anything that doesn't seem quite normal, so they can respond and identify a situation. The number is 903-763-2201.
Also, Wood County Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest of a fugitive wanted in a case.
When you call 903-763-CASH, your information remains confidential and you may remain anonymous. On giving your information, you will be assigned a special number to reference your call..
You can use this number at a later date to claim a reward if your information leads to an arrest. You do not give your name. Crime Stoppers may pay a reward up to $1,000 for information on any warrant that leads to an arrest and indictment.
June 24th: Deputies were dispatched to FM 19 in Mineola with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) took a weed eater. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to FM 1795 in Hawkins with regard to a theft of survey equipment valued at $30,000. The complainant advised that the equipment was taken by unknown suspect(s) from a work site. The case is under investigation.
June 23rd: Animal control was dispatched to CR 2840 in Mineola on a possible cruelty to animals call. The complainant advised that his nephew's children came to him and advised that a pit bull was deceased.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 2389 in Mineola with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that his renter had moved out of a rent house and had taken the stove from the residence. The case is under investigation.
June 22nd: Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 in Yantis with regard to a burglary. The complainant said that unknown suspect(s) had entered his travel trailer and a storage building. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 in Yantis with regard to another burglary. The complainant said that unknown suspect(s) had removed his fishing equipment. The case is under investigation.
June 21st: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2166 in Quitman with regard to a suspects on a complainant's property who refused to leave. On arrival, the suspect had left the complainant's residence. The complainant requested that a criminal trespass warning be issued to the suspect. Deputies located the suspect at his residence and suspect Leonard Ray Gover was issued a criminal trespass warning.
June 19th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2550 in Mineola with regard to a complainant's neighbor hunting pigs on the complainant's property. The suspect had been verbally warned to keep off the property by the complainant. George Bradley Hanson was issued a criminal trespass warning not to come back on the property.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to CR 3160 in Quitman for a structure fire at approximately 3 p.m. Deputies made contact with the homeowner who said he had fallen asleep at his computer and awoke to find the house on fire. The homeowner had just purchased the home about two months ago and had been moving in a little at a time. He did not have home insurance.
June 18th: Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 in Hawkins with regard to a report of criminal mischief. A complainant advised that suspect(s) had cut all four tires on her Chevrolet pickup. The case is under investigation.

During the period there were 74 males and 13 females at the Wood County Jail for an overall total of 87. There were 37 bookings and 39 releases.
June 16th: Deputies were dispatched to Wood Street in Mineola with regard to the burglary of a motor vehicle that took place at Lake Holbrook. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had reached into his brother's truck and removed a bottle of a prescription pain medication. The case is under investigation.
June 15th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 3811 in Hawkins with regard to an assault. The complainant advised that he was punched several times and hit with tree limbs. The case is under investigation.
June 14th: Deputies were dispatched to Main Street in Yantis with regard to a burglary. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had broken into his storage shed and removed a window unit air conditioner. He said the suspect(s) had broken a window to enter the shed. The case is under investigation.
On the same date, deputies were dispatched to PR 7422 in Hawkins with regard to the theft of a four-wheeler. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had removed the four-wheeler from underneath a shed. The case is under investigation.
June 13th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 1970 in Yantis with regard to a theft. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had stolen his American flag and pole. The flag and pole were attached to the front of the complainant's home. The case is under investigation.
June 11th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2260 in Mineola. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had damaged a door at the construction site of a new home that the complainant is building. The case is under investigation.
June 10th: Deputies were dispatched to CR 2218 in Mineola with regard to the burglary of a vehicle. The complainant advised that unknown suspect(s) had entered her vehicle and removed a purse along with its contents. The case is under investigation.
