Boom Axe bid awarded-Precinct 2; Motor Grader to be sold on E-Bay

Meeting in regular session Friday, October 31, Wood County Commissioners awarded a bid to acquire a boom axe for Precinct-2 and agreed to offer a Precinct-4 motor grader for sale on E-bay. Commissioners quickly dispatched a short 12 item agenda.


Judge Bryan Jeanes was not present. Commissioner Roger Pace, Precinct-3 presided.

Commissioner Jerry Gaskill, Precinct-2 recommended acceptance of the low bid on a used boom axe for his Road & Bridge department. Two bids were received-one from Equipment Support Services (ESS) of Tyler and one from H&V Equipment Services, Inc. of Corpus Christi. ESS had the low bid of $38,5000 for a New Holland with an Alamo Versa Boom. The equipment has 2,53 hours of service. H&V's bid was $53,300 for a John Deere with an Alamo boom and 1,650 hours of service. The ESS bid was approved by the Court.

Commissioner Jerry Galloway, Precinct-4 sought Court approval to sell a motor grader on E-Bay from his Road & Bridge equipment inventory. The Commissioners agreed and set the listing on E-Bay for the first week of December.

Annual planned maintenance programs in the total amount of $6,895.39 were approved for the air conditioning systems at the Wood County Courthouse ($3,830.93); Wood County Adult Probation Department ($1,089.57); Tax Office ($727.65); Health Department ($512.91); Drivers' License Branch ($402.38), and Extension Office ($331.95). The contracts are with Maddox Air Conditioning, Inc. of Tyler.

In other action the court approved:
- payroll of $271,988.28.
- employee/dependent health claims of $58,067.68.
- claims of $272,199.35.
- standard interlocal agreement with City of Yantis for road materials.
- video surveillance and recording system for Adult Probation at a cost of $9,970.00.
Personnel actions taken at the meeting included:
- Appointment of temporary early voting workers: Terrell Aaronspeer, Rebecca Brackfield, Carol Denson, Betty Dubbs, Donna Estes, Barbara Thompson and Glen Thurman, Elections Administrators Office. Each will be paid $9.00/hour.
- Anita Louise Johnson, resignation, Chief Deputy, Office of District Clerk, $15.83/hour.
- Leslie Ann Brady, promotion from Deputy Clerk to Chief Deputy, Office of District Clerk, from $13.79/hour to $15.83/hour.
- Samuel Patrick Threadgill, new hire, Deputy Sheriff, WCSO, $16.96/hour.
The next regular meeting of the Wood County Commissioners Court will be Friday, November 14 at 10 a.m. A special meeting of the court can be called with 72-hour public notice.
